Video: Family seeks suspect after Stinkwater hijacking ordeal

A family has turned to social media for help after an alleged hijacking in Stinkwater, north of Pretoria, with a Facebook post appealing to the public to identify a man pictured in a video.

The footage, shared by CGN Crime, claims the victim was hijacked on Sunday night.

‘This guy and his friends hijacked my dad last night at Stinkwater north of Pretoria. If you know him, please assist to identify him,’ the post reads.

The appeal includes a video of a man walking in the area and asks members of the public to help identify him. At the time of publication, the allegations had not been independently verified and no arrests had been announced.

Vehicle hijackings remain a persistent concern across South Africa. Security experts continue to urge motorists to stay alert, particularly in known high-risk areas.

MasterDrive CEO Eugene Herbert said motorists should prioritise their safety if confronted by hijackers.

‘Carjacking victims should not resist or argue, because a life is worth far more than any vehicle,’ Herbert told BusinessTech, adding that remaining calm and complying with instructions gives victims the best chance of escaping unharmed.
