SASSA schedules Old Age Grant for 4 August; review day set for 7 August
SASSA will pay Older Persons’ Grants from 4 August 2026. A fourth payment day for reviews is set for 7 August; affected beneficiaries must visit a SASSA office before the 18th.
SASSA will begin paying Older Persons’ Grants on Tuesday, 4 August 2026. The department has confirmed that older person beneficiaries are first in the monthly payment cycle, with Disability Grants and Children’s Grants scheduled to follow.
Payment schedule and where to expect funds
SASSA has confirmed Older Persons’ Grants will be paid from 4 August. The payment schedule that month places Disability Grants on 5 August and Children’s Grants on 6 August.
Beneficiaries who receive their grants into bank accounts should see funds reflect from the confirmed date. Those collecting cash at pay points are advised to check with their specific pay point for exact collection times.
Fourth payment day for reviews
SASSA has flagged 7 August as a fourth payment day specifically for beneficiaries targeted for a review of their grant status. The department says if a grant is not paid on the usual payment date and only appears on this fourth day, it indicates the account has been selected for review and SASSA was unable to make contact beforehand.
SASSA advises beneficiaries in this category not to assume their grant has been cancelled. Instead, they must complete a formal process at a local SASSA office.
What to bring for a review
Anyone affected by a review is asked to visit their nearest SASSA office before the 18th of the following month to complete the review process. Documents listed by SASSA include:
- Proof of income
- Proof of marital status
- Any other relevant supporting documentation
SASSA warns that beneficiaries who miss the 18th deadline risk longer delays in having their grants reinstated and urges affected pensioners to visit an office as soon as they notice a missed payment.
SASSA payment staging
SASSA typically stages payments across different beneficiary categories each month to ease pressure on banking systems, retail payment points and post office queues.
SASSA reiterated its commitment to “paying the right grant to the right person, at the right time and place.”
