Boksburg suspect faces court over Anti-Gang Unit deaths

A Boksburg suspect will appear in court today after police linked him to the deaths of two Anti-Gang Unit members and two civilian women.

According to SAPS statement, the 23-year-old alleged gangster is due to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 12 August, facing two counts of murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.

Suspect arrested during Germiston tracing operation

Police arrested the suspect during a multi-disciplinary tracing operation at KwaDukathole Informal Settlement in Germiston over the weekend.

The operation was led by the DPCI’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation, with support from Gauteng Crime Intelligence, the Provincial Tracking Team, Tactical Response Team, Anti-Gang Unit and PRASA.

SAPS said the operation resulted in the recovery of two R5 rifles and the identification of the suspect.

Police allege that he took part in the killing of Constables Tlomatsana and Sibeko, along with two civilian women.

The suspect was out on bail when police arrested him. SAPS said he also has pending cases involving two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

‘Investigations are ongoing,’ SAPS said, adding that further arrests have not been ruled out.

The police service said investigations will continue as officers work to identify others allegedly involved in the killings.
