Arlo & Co.: Reimagining a Landmark Address in Cape Town’s Historic Heart
At 80 St Georges Mall, one of Cape Town’s most recognisable city addresses is preparing to enter a new chapter.
Formerly home to the Waldorf Arcade, the building is being comprehensively reimagined as Arlo & Co. – a mixed-use residential destination that brings together heritage, hospitality and contemporary urban living within the heart of Cape Town’s Central City.
Originally completed in 1988, the landmark structure has long formed part of the fabric of St Georges Mall and Greenmarket Square. Today, it is being reshaped for a new generation of residents, visitors and investors seeking a more connected, experience-led way of living in Cape Town’s city centre.
Comprising 276 studio, one and two-bedroom apartments, alongside a collection of loft residences, Arlo & Co. introduces a hosted residential offering designed around convenience, community and everyday experience – with units priced from R1.175 million (VAT inclusive).
Residents will have access to a curated suite of amenities, alongside Mojo Greenmarket Square, a vibrant new hospitality destination envisioned for the ground floor by the acclaimed team behind Sea Point’s iconic Mojo Market.
A New Gathering Place for Greenmarket Square
At street level, Arlo & Co. welcomes Mojo Greenmarket Square – a vibrant new hospitality destination brought to life by the team behind Sea Point’s iconic Mojo Market.
Reimagined for the energy and character of Cape Town’s historic centre, it introduces a fresh expression of the beloved brand, bringing together exceptional food, culture, conversation and entertainment beneath one remarkable address.
Conceived specifically for its Greenmarket Square setting, Mojo Greenmarket will combine artisan food offerings, coffee culture, boutique bars, curated retail and live entertainment, creating a destination that feels distinctly urban, effortlessly social and deeply connected to the rhythm of the city.
Designed for Contemporary City Living
Designed by TwoFiveFive Architects, Arlo & Co. carefully balances the building’s existing architectural character with a contemporary residential expression.
Originally completed in 1988, the Waldorf Arcade has been thoughtfully reimagined to celebrate its defining architectural qualities while introducing a new layer of contemporary city living.
“From the outset, we were drawn to the building’s timeless elegance – its marble façade, disciplined structural rhythm and carefully considered proportions. Our approach wasn’t to replicate its architecture, but to reinterpret those defining qualities through a contemporary language, creating a dialogue between heritage and modernity while allowing the building to evolve without losing its identity,” says Conrad Janse van Rensburg, Associate Director at TwoFiveFive Architects.
That same philosophy extends into the residences, where warm materiality, refined detailing and a design language inspired by the building’s Art Deco heritage create interiors that feel both characterful and distinctly contemporary.
Optional furniture collections, curated by Maison & Marble in partnership with Hertex Haus, offer buyers a turnkey furnishing solution designed for both owner-occupiers and investors seeking a professionally styled, rental-ready home.
A Hosted World Above the City
Beyond the residences themselves, Arlo & Co. introduces a collection of amenities rarely found within city-centre developments.
Residents will enjoy a concierge-led arrival experience, dedicated co-working spaces, a fully equipped gymnasium, an open-air atrium, a private cinema, and a rooftop clubhouse complete with a pool, bar and panoramic views stretching across Table Mountain, the city skyline and the harbour beyond.
Thoughtfully serviced by Mojo Greenmarket below, the rooftop has been designed as an extension of the hosted experience, allowing residents and guests to enjoy food and drinks within an environment that feels both elevated and effortlessly social.
Together, these spaces reinforce Arlo & Co.’s positioning as a residential destination shaped as much around experience as it is around ownership.
At the Centre of Cape Town’s Next Chapter
Greenmarket Square remains one of Cape Town’s oldest public spaces and most culturally significant precincts, continuing to attract visitors, businesses and residents alike.
Supported by continued private investment, public realm improvements and growing confidence in the Central City’s residential market, the precinct continues to evolve as a vibrant mixed-use destination.
Arlo & Co. arrives within this broader context as a significant reinvestment into one of Cape Town’s most historic addresses, contributing to the ongoing evolution of Greenmarket Square and St Georges Mall.
Positioned moments from Bree Street, Company’s Garden, the V&A Waterfront and Cape Town’s leading cultural institutions, the development places residents within one of Africa’s most dynamic urban environments.
A New Residential Offering for Cape Town’s Urban Core
As Cape Town continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading tourism and lifestyle destinations, demand for professionally managed city-centre residential product has continued to grow.
Arlo & Co. has been conceived as a fully managed aparthotel, designed to appeal equally to owner-occupiers, local investors and buyers seeking exposure to one of South Africa’s strongest-performing short-term rental markets.
Reservations will take place via Connect, Revo Digital’s interactive price list platform, allowing buyers to browse layouts, pricing and availability, and reserve apartments online in real time.
Arlo & Co. is brought to market by Revo Digital and sold exclusively by Revo Property.
