Its officially voting day and six parties have set out how they would fix the city’s water, billing and jobs, Joburg Etc reports.

The ANC’s manifesto promises free basic services for grant-receiving households and insourcing of work such as waste collection and water tankering. The party has not publicly named a Johannesburg mayoral candidate.

EFF: leaner entities and ward assemblies

Tlaleng Mofokeng would cut consultancy fees and executive boards at city entities and set up people’s assemblies in every ward.

ActionSA: a 100-day plan

Herman Mashaba promises a detailed assessment of the city’s problems and his plans within 100 days.

PA and MK: debt relief

Kenny Kunene proposes debt relief for households with properties valued below R1 million. Bongani Baloyi wants a funded budget and a different approach to debt than service cut-offs.
