Mpumalanga police have launched an intensive manhunt for suspects involved in the brutal killing of Lieutenant Colonel Piet Pretorius, a police commander, on Thursday afternoon.
Lieutenant Colonel Pretorius, 59, who headed the Vehicle Identification Unit in Ermelo, was shot and killed around 2 PM while driving an official vehicle.

“The killing of police officers undermines the safety and stability of our society. Lieutenant Colonel Pretorius was an invaluable asset in ensuring the safety of the community. We urge residents to assist by providing any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible,” said Mkhwanazi.
