Mpumalanga Woman Found Murdered In her backroom in Siyabuswa, Investigation Underway

Mpumalanga police are investigating the murder of 31-year-old Mbali Mahlangu, whose body was discovered inside her backroom in Siyabuswa on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in the afternoon.
According to provincial spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, Mahlangu was last seen on the evening of Saturday, February 1, when she went to sleep. Her family grew suspicious when they returned home from church and noticed that her room was still locked and closed. Concerned, they used a spare key to open the door, only to find a pool of blood inside and Mahlangu’s lifeless body lying half-naked, wearing only a T-shirt, facing upward.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene, where the victim was certified dead. Ndubane confirmed that preliminary investigations revealed that Mahlangu had multiple visible injuries on her body, and it is suspected that she may have been stabbed with a sharp object.
The police have opened a murder case, but no arrests have been made yet. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crime to contact Constable Briggette Mashego at 068 327 8168 or the Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111. Information can also be sent via MYSAPSAPP, and callers can remain anonymous.
In an unrelated case from December 2024, a 50-year-old woman was found dead in her home in Ka Petsa village, Limpopo. The woman’s husband, who was away working, found the house locked upon his return and later discovered the body. Police have made arrests in that case and are continuing their investigation.
