From Critic to Supporter: Mbuyiseni Ndlozi Praises Ramaphosa’s Policies

In a surprising shift of perspective, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, a prominent member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has publicly lauded South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, calling him the “most committed” head of state.
Ndlozi, who has often been a vocal critic of the president, broke from his previous stance by acknowledging Ramaphosa’s dedication to transformative policies, such as the National Health Insurance Act, the Basic Education Laws Amendment, and the Expropriation Act. In addition, he commended the president’s stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict, highlighting Ramaphosa’s role in positioning South Africa as a voice for global justice.
Despite the challenges Ramaphosa has faced throughout his presidency, including the Marikana massacre and the controversial Phala Phala scandal, Ndlozi expressed his belief that the president is genuinely working toward change. He argued that Ramaphosa has shown an unwavering commitment to improving the nation’s living conditions through these policies, which he believes benefit the majority of South Africans.
This man is not what we have been told he is. He is truly up to something. Of all SA heads of state, he has come out as the most committed to policies that matter for the most genuine transformation of the living conditions of our people.

“This man is not what we have been told he is,” Ndlozi shared on X (formerly Twitter). “Of all South African heads of state, he has come out as the most committed to policies that matter for the genuine transformation of the living conditions of our people.”
In his post, Ndlozi urged the left to reconsider its stance toward Ramaphosa, suggesting that his actions reflect a commitment to genuine transformation rather than aligning with the interests of white monopoly capitalism. “Notwithstanding Marikana and Phala Phala, he is on a journey less travelled by many in his position, especially under a Government of National Unity (GNU),” he added.
Ndlozi’s praise for Ramaphosa comes amidst growing international scrutiny, particularly from US President Donald Trump, who criticized South Africa’s land expropriation policies. In response, Ramaphosa reassured the international community that South Africa’s land reform efforts are lawful and aligned with the country’s constitutional democracy.
“South Africa is a constitutional democracy that is deeply rooted in the rule of law, justice, and equality. The South African government has not confiscated any land,” Ramaphosa emphasized.
