Three Dead in Sandton Restaurant Shooting After Altercation Over Firearm

Three people were killed in a violent shooting incident at a restaurant in Sandton, Gauteng, on Thursday night. Four others were injured in the chaos that unfolded.
According to Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the incident began when a man attempted to enter the restaurant, which enforces a strict no-firearm policy. This sparked an altercation, leading to a shooting between the man’s bodyguards and the restaurant’s security team.
“Two of the bodyguards were declared dead at the scene, while five victims—including the man, two patrons, a CPF member, and a security guard—were rushed to the hospital with gunshot injuries,” said Nevhuhulwi.
The man, who reportedly initiated the confrontation, later died from his injuries at the hospital.
Initial investigations revealed that the man had been arrested previously for a shooting incident in Sandton last year.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and police continue to investigate the incident.
“The police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder,” Nevhuhulwi added.
