uMhlathuze to Host Tourism Investment Forum Africa (TIFA) 2025, Boosting Economic Growth

The City of uMhlathuze has been officially selected to host the highly anticipated Tourism Investment Forum Africa (TIFA) 2025. The event, scheduled for August 26-27 at Thembela Events Venue in Richards Bay, will bring together investors and business leaders from across the continent to explore exciting investment opportunities in the tourism sector.
The announcement was made at the Meetings Africa event held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, signaling uMhlathuze’s growing prominence as a key destination for tourism and investment in KwaZulu-Natal.
uMhlathuze Municipality Mayor, Cllr Xolani Ngwezi, expressed confidence in the event’s potential to fuel regional economic growth. “Our aim is to drive economic progress while positioning uMhlathuze as a competitive hub for export trade and investment,” Ngwezi stated, emphasizing the city’s strategic location as a gateway to the natural attractions of Zululand and Maputaland.
The event will provide a platform for showcasing numerous investment opportunities, all aimed at improving the region’s global competitiveness. Sibusiso Gumbi, CEO of the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority, highlighted that hosting TIFA aligns with the province’s efforts to promote itself as a top tourism and film destination. He added that the forum would not only attract significant capital inflows but also shine a light on lesser-known areas as potential investment hotspots.
Miller Matola, CEO of Millvest, emphasized the value of uMhlathuze’s tourism infrastructure, calling it a treasure trove for investors looking for sustainable growth opportunities. Matola noted that the city’s selection as the TIFA 2025 host was driven by its potential to connect local economic development with global investment actions.
The forum’s theme, “Tourism and Infrastructure Investment: Driving Economic Transformation and Enhancing Community Well-Being,” promises dynamic discussions and collaboration among investors, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. Participants can expect site visits to significant investment projects, further showcasing the region’s tourism potential.
With direct flights connecting Johannesburg and Richards Bay, along with various accommodation options, delegates will enjoy a comfortable stay while exploring the exciting investment possibilities offered by the region. TIFA 2025 is set to raise awareness of uMhlathuze’s assets and spark interest in future development initiatives that could transform KwaZulu-Natal’s economic landscape.
