Two armed robbers tied up a Dalpark Ext 9 family during a house robbery on August 27, according to The Citizen (Brakpan Herald).

What happened

The Citizen (Brakpan Herald) reports that at about 19:30 two men carrying guns entered a home on Langenhoven Street while a man, his wife and daughter were sitting in the lounge. The intruders were wearing masks and gloves and immediately took the victims’ cellphones and demanded money.

Money transfer and escalation

The robbers forced the man to transfer money via a cash send to a cellphone, then phoned someone to withdraw the funds. During the incident the man’s brother-in-law arrived; he and the rest of the family were taken to a bedroom and tied up.

Items stolen and police response

The Citizen (Brakpan Herald) says the intruders ransacked the house and stole a laptop, tablet, music equipment, cellphones and other valuables before fleeing. A house robbery case is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
