The latest update from Eskom indicates it will implement varying load shedding stages from Thursday afternoon until Tuesday. For example, stage 4 load shedding will start from 16h00 on Thursday afternoon until 05h00 on Friday, followed by different stages of load shedding up to stage 3 daily until 05h00 on Tuesday.
Eskom interim spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, stated that the energy company returned a generation unit at Arnot Power Station to service in the past 24 hours. However, generating units at Arnot, Lethabo, Kriel, and Tutuka power stations were taken offline for repairs, resulting in further strain on the power grid. Additionally, there were delays in returning a unit to service at Kusile, Medupi, and Tutuka power stations.
