Tomorrow Marks an Increase in Fuel Prices

fuel prices will increase from tomorrow

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) has announced that fuel prices will increase from tomorrow for August. There will be no slate fuel levy this month. But motorists must pay anything from 37c to 72c more per litre of fuel.

According to the DMRE, petrol prices for both octane levels will increase by 37c per litre. The diesel price will rise by 71c and 72c per litre. Additionally, the cost of paraffin will also increase by 71c per litre.

However, it’s not all bad news, as gas consumers will see a slight relief with a decrease of R1.61 per kilogram.

The main reason for the fuel price increases is the rising Brent crude oil price. DMRE spokesperson Robert Maake explained that analysts are predicting further increases in the oil price in the coming weeks, putting more pressure on fuel prices for consumers.
