Police have reportedly raided the Johannesburg property of a prominent tobacco tychoon in what is believed to be a search-and-seizure operation, Joburg ETC reports.

In a post eNCA journalist Pule Letshwiti-Jones reported the raid on Tuesday, 13 October, alleging that police executed a search-and-seizure warrant at the property.

The journalist said the businessman had previously been a close associate of Firoz Khan, a controversial figure linked to Crime Intelligence, and that his name had featured at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

The tobacco tychoon has also allegedly had links to taxi industry bosses, according to Letshwiti-Jones.

In a separate Instagram post, Zola Hashatsi reported similar details about the alleged operation, including the reported execution of a warrant.

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry is investigating allegations of corruption and criminal infiltration within South Africa’s law enforcement structures.

Further details about the reported raid, including the identity of the businessman, the purpose of the search and whether any items were seized, have not been independently verified.
