twin businessmen killed

A Bloemfontein shooting has left twin businessmen dead, with police launching a manhunt following the fatal incident in Bochabela on Wednesday, 21 October, Joburg Etc reports.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), Mangaung police received a shooting-in-progress complaint from radio control 10 111 at 08:51. Officers arrived at Ramatsoele Street at approximately 09:00.

The two men were found inside a charcoal-coloured Ford Ranger at the gate of the premises. ‘Both the driver and the passenger suffered gunshot wounds,’ the statement said. ER24 paramedics declared both victims dead at the scene.

SAPS identified the men as 52-year-old twins Kegomodicoe Lekone and Keabecoe Lekone, who were known as the owners of Ekhayeni Lounge Bar.

Witness reports seeing a man flee

According to a witness inside a double-storey building, gunshots were heard upstairs. The witness said they rushed outside to establish where the shots had come from and saw a man running towards a white Chevrolet Aveo hatchback.

The witness could not confirm whether the man was carrying anything. The vehicle then sped away, with possibly two other occupants already inside.

The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes, Murder and Robbery Unit is leading the investigation. ‘Double Murder cases were opened at Mangaung Police Station,’ SAPS confirmed.

Police appeal for information

Police are asking anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact Colonel Msokoli Bolsick on 082 466 8530.

Information can also be reported at the nearest police station, submitted through the MySAPS app or shared anonymously through Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

The reported getaway vehicle and any information that could help identify its occupants may assist investigators in tracing the suspects.
