Sassa changes November 2026 grant payment dates ahead of local elections
Sassa changes November grant payment dates ahead of local government elections
Social grant beneficiaries will receive their November 2026 payments earlier than usual under a revised schedule announced by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).
The adjustment comes ahead of the local government elections and is intended to help prevent disruptions to payments during the election period. According to Sassa, the revised dates follow consultations with stakeholders and have been approved by National Treasury.
Older persons will be the first to receive their grants, starting on Friday, 30 October.
November 2026 Sassa payment dates
Beneficiaries should take note of the updated payment schedule:
- Older Persons Grant: Friday, 30 October 2026
- Disability Grant: Monday, 2 November 2026
- Children’s Grants: Tuesday, 3 November 2026
Sassa said the revised arrangements were designed to support the orderly and secure distribution of social assistance.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to follow the official schedule rather than rely on unverified information circulating online.
Special date for grants under review
Sassa has also set aside Thursday, 5 November, for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.
Those who have received official communication requesting a review should respond to the notice and attend any required appointments.
The agency has cautioned beneficiaries against making unnecessary trips to Sassa offices, noting that payments will be processed according to the revised timetable.
Sassa warns against false information
The agency has urged grant recipients to check its official communication channels for updates about payments and social assistance.
The warning comes as Sassa reminds beneficiaries to be cautious about misinformation and disinformation relating to grants, particularly during a period when payment arrangements may attract increased attention.
Beneficiaries should verify any claims about changes to payment dates or eligibility before acting on them.
Sassa says its priority remains ensuring that eligible South Africans continue receiving their grants reliably while safeguarding the social assistance system.
For recipients who rely on these payments for household essentials, checking the correct dates and responding to review requests will be important in the weeks ahead.
