Neethling Fouché, a vital player in the Stormers’ scrum, has signed a three-year contract extension with the Cape Town-based rugby team. The 32-year-old tighthead prop, celebrated for his commitment and off-field humor, expressed his dedication to the team, despite interest from overseas clubs.

Fouché, originally from Rustenberg and an alumnus of Grey College in Bloemfontein, has been a dependable force in the front row. He has stepped up during the absence of Springbok No. 3 Frans Malherbe, whether due to Test commitments or injury.

Fouché was part of the Stormers squad that clinched the United Rugby Championship (URC) title in 2022. His consistent performances have positioned him as a strong contender for national team honors in 2025.

“Every time I put on the Stormers jersey, I get quite emotional. This team means the world to me, and I honestly don’t want to play my rugby anywhere else,” Fouché said. “Driving into work and staring at Table Mountain, I don’t know where else you can get that. This squad has the potential to achieve great things; we are only at the beginning.”

Stormers director of rugby John Dobson praised Fouché’s contributions. “Neethling is an incredible team man, and as a tighthead prop, is coming into his prime. He competes with one of the greatest ever tightheads, Frans Malherbe, and keeps pushing his standards. We are thrilled to have him on our books for another three years.”
