The Springbok Women’s rugby team has officially kicked off their second alignment camp of 2025, gathering 34 players for an intensive training session at Loftus Versfeld. As preparations for the upcoming World Cup in England in August intensify, head coach Swys de Bruin and his assistant coaches—Laurian Johannes-Haupt, Franzel September, and Bafana Nhleko—have meticulously guided the squad through their paces on the first day.

De Bruin expressed satisfaction with the progress made during the team’s first camp in Stellenbosch earlier this year, highlighting the dedication of the provincial unions in releasing their national players for these critical sessions during the Women’s Premier Division season. He emphasized that this camp was structured to align the team’s tactical approach without disrupting their ongoing commitments at the provincial level.

“The buy-in from the provincial unions has been crucial as we work towards our World Cup campaign. This camp is about alignment, ensuring that we have our players on the same page as we prepare for the challenges ahead,” De Bruin said.

The Women’s Premier Division is set to conclude at the end of March, after which the Springbok Women will embark on a European tour in April for a series of warm-up matches. The details of these fixtures will be shared closer to the time.

Players in the Training Squad:

The camp features a dynamic mix of talent from various provinces, with players representing the Bulls Daisies, Boland Dames, Border Ladies, Golden Lions Women, Sharks Women, Western Province, and others. Some of the notable names include:

  • Bulls Daisies: Sanelisiwe Charlie, Yonela Ngxingolo, Micke Gunter, Xolelwa Diliza, Dineo Ndhlovu, Lusanda Dumke

De Bruin’s leadership and the unified efforts of the team are focused on building a cohesive squad ready to take on the world in August.
