Dove Flies On: Edmilson Dove Departs Kaizer Chiefs After Three Seasons

A Quiet Farewell for a Loyal Servant
As June 30, 2025, approaches, Kaizer Chiefs and Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove have confirmed they will part ways. The 30-year-old’s contract comes to an end, closing a three-year chapter at Naturena.
Dove arrived at the club in August 2022 and quickly became a key figure in the backline. His calm presence and versatility – able to slot in at both centre-back and left-back – earned him the respect of coaches and fans alike.
On-Pitch Impact & Injuries
Over the course of his time at Amakhosi, Dove made 56 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals. His early consistency was disrupted by a pre-season Achilles injury suffered in Turkey in 2024, which kept him sidelined for several months.
He returned to action midway through the 2024/25 campaign, making 13 appearances under coaches Cavin Johnson and Nasreddine Nabi. Though not at full match rhythm, Dove gave his all during his final season.
A Personal Thank-You to the Chiefs Family
Shortly after the club’s official announcement, Dove posted a heartfelt farewell to the Amakhosi faithful on Instagram:
“Dear Mr Chairman, thank you for allowing me to fulfil a childhood dream. We had our ups and downs, we shed some tears… joyful moments which I will cherish forever. Thank you to every coach, teammate, kit manager, gardener, kitchen staff… the bond created is unbreakable. TO THE FAITHFUL ONES: Thank you for your unwavering support.”
It’s the kind of tribute that shows Dove didn’t just play for the badge – he connected with the club’s soul.

Squad Shake-Up in Full Swing
Dove is not the only name on the exit list. Midfielders Njabulo Blom and Sabelo Radebe, as well as striker Ranga Chivaviro, have also parted ways with the club since the season ended.
These departures suggest a deliberate shift under newly appointed head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who appears to be reshaping the squad in preparation for a more competitive 2025/26 campaign.
What’s Next for Dove – and Chiefs?
At 30, Dove is still in his prime and remains a highly experienced player with international caps for Mozambique. Given his solid defensive record and leadership qualities, interest from other clubs – both locally and abroad – is expected.
For Chiefs, all eyes now turn to who will fill the void. Reports suggest the club may pursue high-profile reinforcements, especially in defence, as Nabi and his technical team push for a fresh tactical identity.
Edmilson Dove’s departure marks the end of a grounded, quietly impactful stint at Kaizer Chiefs. While his career with the club was at times hampered by injury, his professionalism, presence, and heartfelt farewell have left a lasting impression.
As the Glamour Boys continue their overhaul, both Dove and Amakhosi step into new chapters – with plenty of hope and expectation from fans who are always watching.
