Big Sean Responds to Ab Implant Rumours With Humour and Honesty

A rapper, a rumour, and a perfectly-timed clapback
Big Sean didn’t wake up expecting to explain his abs to the internet. But thanks to a viral TikTok theory questioning whether the rapper had cosmetic surgery to get those chiselled lines, he ended up doing exactly that, with a good dose of humour and perspective.
The rumour started when fitness influencer Blake Sanburg (aka @thenutritionnarc) posted a video analysing Sean’s midsection. The influencer compared recent photos of the 37-year-old rapper with older ones, suggesting the change might be due to ab implants or steroids.
Sanburg even claimed Big Sean’s defined six-pack was “sitting on top of a bubble gut” and implied there was no way that transformation came naturally. The video took off, sparking a wave of speculation across social media platforms.
But Big Sean? He wasn’t having it.
“Unfortunately mine are real”
Rather than let the rumour spiral, the Detroit rapper jumped straight into the comment section. His response was as straightforward as it was hilarious.
“Bro, unfortunately mine are real lol,” he wrote. “Got love for the fake ab community tho… but what makes this funnier is this is the way God made me.”
In true Big Sean fashion, he didn’t stop there. He poked fun at his own out-of-shape days, saying he looks like “a chewed-up Tootsie Roll” when he lets things slide, a far cry from the bubble-gut theory.
He ended his response by clarifying what many already suspected: there’s no surgery here. No shortcuts. Just age, intentionality, and a renewed commitment to fitness after becoming a dad.
Dad bod in reverse?
In a follow-up video, Sanburg revealed that Big Sean had also DM’d him directly, saying: “I just gained dad weight and had to crack down on working out as I got older, bro… No surgery, though.”
For those who’ve followed Big Sean’s journey, this adds up. Since welcoming his son Noah with longtime partner Jhené Aiko in 2022, he’s been open about how fatherhood shifted his priorities. In an April 2024 interview, he told PEOPLE, “I’m still learning to be more intentional with everything and just be in the moment.”
That kind of mental shift naturally filters into how you show up physically. No implants needed.

Social media reacts: “This is how you respond to nonsense”
Fans were quick to rally behind Sean. Many praised the rapper’s calm, witty handling of the situation, while others called out the absurdity of having to explain one’s body in 2025.
Twitter and Instagram flooded with comments like
-
“Y’all really making people explain their own abs now?”
-
“Big Sean handled that with such grace and vibes. King stuff.”
-
“This is why I mess with him. Always keeps it real.”
In a culture where speculation runs faster than facts, Sean’s honesty was refreshing.
A deeper layer: grief, growth, and balance
This isn’t the first time Big Sean has opened up publicly. In a January 2025 podcast with Jay Shetty, he spoke about the miscarriage Jhené Aiko experienced before Noah’s birth, urging others to face grief and still leave room for hope.
“You may get blessed with a child later on… in a different way.”
That emotional transparency makes his response to this rumour even more grounded. He’s not chasing validation or aesthetics. He’s living, grieving, parenting, and yes, working out like the rest of us.
At the end of the day
Big Sean’s body became the subject of a viral conspiracy. Instead of anger, he responded with humour, clarity, and context, showing that not everything needs a PR statement.
Sometimes, the truth is simple: “Unfortunately, mine are real.”
