Bubbles and Oysters in the Capital: Pretoria Gears Up for a Sparkling Festival

Pretoria’s winter is about to end on a deliciously decadent note. On Sunday, 31 August 2025, Casa Toscana Lodge’s LeSi Restaurant will transform into a playground of oysters, bubbly, and live entertainment for the annual Pretoria Oyster and Bubbly Festival.
A Feast of Freshness
Thousands of oysters are being flown in fresh for the day, promising everything from creamy Knysna classics to the briny pop of Saldanha Bay. Guests can order oysters individually at R35 a piece or go for a six-piece platter at R210, with mixed platters available for those who want to taste it all. Pairing these with a flute of sparkling wine is part of the ritual, and with over 50 varieties of bubbly on offer, enthusiasts will have plenty to sip and swirl.
Tickets, Perks, and VIP Indulgence
General tickets (R220) include a goodie bag with a tasting glass, access to bubbly stations, and a soundtrack from DJ Thabiso Khambule and the Vaaltaki Band. For those who prefer exclusivity, the R1000 VIP ticket offers entry to a private lounge with dedicated waiters, a premium glass of bubbly on arrival, and six oysters per guest. Unlimited tastings, a beer tent, and a wide range of food stalls add to the indulgence.
Culture, Lifestyle, and Social Buzz
The festival has grown into more than just a tasting event. It has become a cultural marker of Pretoria’s emerging food and drink scene, one that mirrors Cape Town’s summer festivals but adds the city’s own flair. Social media is already bubbling with anticipation: foodies sharing countdown posts, Instagrammers promising outfit-and-oyster shots, and locals excited to “sip the last of winter away.”
Good to Know
The festival runs from 11am to 6pm (arrivals from 10am) at Casa Toscana Lodge, 5 Darlington Road, Lynnwood Manor, Pretoria. No under-18s are allowed, and with no on-site parking available, guests are encouraged to use e-hailing services like Uber, Bolt, or Wanatu.
Whether you’re a seasoned oyster lover or simply chasing a glamorous Sunday experience, the Pretoria Oyster and Bubbly Festival is shaping up as a highlight on the city’s culinary calendar.
