Takealot To Open Massive New Cape Town Depot In 2026

South Africa’s leading e-commerce player, Takealot, is gearing up to expand its logistics reach with a brand-new depot opening in Cape Town early next year.
The new site, set to launch on 15 January 2026, will be housed inside Inospace’s Powder Mill Park in Ndabeni. It forms part of Takealot Group’s larger strategy to strengthen its national delivery network and support the country’s fast-growing online retail ecosystem.
A Boost For Local E-Commerce
According to Inospace CEO Rael Levitt, the Powder Mill site is undergoing a significant transformation to become Cape Town’s first dedicated e-commerce logistics park.
“Powder Mill is perfectly positioned just minutes from Riverlands and major arterial routes,” said Levitt. “Smaller businesses can now simply store their products at Powder Mill, and if our clients want to use the Takealot platform, they will do the rest: fulfilment, delivery, and customer service through Takealot Fulfilment Services (TFS).”
This collaboration will allow Takealot Fulfilment Services (TFS) to manage key elements of the supply chain from packaging and shipping to customer care offering small and medium enterprises (SMEs) the infrastructure to scale up effortlessly.
Empowering Small Businesses
The partnership marks a major step toward democratising access to logistics for local entrepreneurs. Many South African SMEs struggle with storage, last-mile delivery, and customer management areas that Takealot’s established systems can now help simplify.
Levitt called the initiative “a game-changer for local entrepreneurs who want to scale quickly without managing complex logistics.” By combining Inospace’s flexible warehousing with Takealot’s national reach, the collaboration creates a seamless ecosystem designed to help small businesses compete in the digital economy.
A Sign Of Evolving Retail
The move comes at a time when South Africa’s e-commerce industry continues to accelerate, driven by changing consumer habits, improved internet access, and growing trust in online platforms.
For Cape Town, the development signals more than just a new warehouse it represents a shift toward building smarter infrastructure that supports local innovation and connects businesses to nationwide markets.
With Takealot’s latest investment, Cape Town is positioning itself not only as a cultural and tourism hub but also as a key logistics and e-commerce centre for the future of retail in South Africa.
