Cape Town influencer and media personality Monique Muller has found herself at the center of another public storm this time over a criminal charge involving an illegal firearm allegedly tied to gang activity.

Arrest In Ravensmead

Muller, best known as the former girlfriend of TV presenter Katlego Maboe, appeared at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on October 21. According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, she was arrested in Ravensmead the previous Sunday alongside several co-accused.

“The person mentioned in your enquiry faces a charge for the illegal possession of a firearm together with other suspects,” Twigg confirmed to Cape Argus. The case was postponed to October 30 for further proceedings.

Reports suggest the arrest followed a police raid at a home allegedly linked to a suspected gang hitman, raising questions about how Muller became entangled in such serious allegations.

A Familiar Name Back In The Headlines

For many South Africans, the name Monique Muller instantly recalls one of the country’s most publicized celebrity scandals. Back in 2020, her bitter breakup with Katlego Maboe dominated headlines after she accused the Expresso Morning Show host of domestic violence and infidelity.

The allegations went viral after Muller posted emotional Instagram stories and a video claiming Maboe had transmitted a sexually transmitted disease to her and engaged in abusive behavior. The fallout was swift and severe Maboe lost brand deals, his television role, and even a SAFTA nomination.

However, a court later cleared Maboe, and public opinion began to shift in his favor. He has since rebuilt his career, returning to television and regaining the trust of his fans.

Public Reaction And Social Media Buzz

The latest development has reignited online debate about Muller’s credibility and personal life. While some users expressed shock and disbelief, others accused her of being “attention-seeking” or “karma catching up.”

A few commenters, however, urged restraint, noting that the matter remains before the court and that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

A Case To Watch

For now, the details surrounding Muller’s arrest remain under investigation. What is clear is that a once-familiar social media figure who once shaped national conversation around gender and reputation now faces a very different kind of scrutiny.

Her next court appearance on October 30 is expected to draw significant media attention, as South Africans watch to see whether this latest chapter will mark a turning point or another controversy in the saga of Monique Muller.
