DJ Warras Murder Suspect to Apply for Bail in Johannesburg Court

One of the suspects linked to the December killing of popular DJ and security consultant Warrick Stock, widely known as DJ Warras, is set to appear in court on Tuesday to apply for bail.

Victor Majola, 44, faces charges of murder and premeditated murder following the fatal shooting outside Zambesi House in Johannesburg’s CBD on 16 December 2025. The case has drawn significant attention from both local media and social platforms, with fans of DJ Warras mourning the loss of the beloved personality.

Bail Application Postponed, Now Rescheduled

Majola was initially expected to apply for bail earlier, but the state requested a postponement. His lawyer, Dumisani Mabunda, told journalists that Majola stands a strong chance of being granted bail.

“This accused was not arrested at the crime scene, nor on the day of the incident, and nothing illegal was found in his possession at the time of arrest,” Mabunda said. “The only connection is a statement from a former co-accused, whose charges were later withdrawn. The state lacks a prima facie case, and there are exceptional circumstances that warrant bail.”

He added that the court will weigh both the state’s and defence’s arguments but expressed confidence that bail will likely be granted, albeit with conditions.

Concerns Over Majola’s Well-being in Custody

During the hearing, the magistrate inquired about Majola’s health while in custody. Majola confirmed that he had seen a doctor on Monday, addressing earlier concerns about an injury he claimed to have sustained in detention.

Community Reaction

The killing of DJ Warras sent shockwaves through Johannesburg’s media and entertainment communities, with local fans taking to social media to express grief and call for justice. Many highlighted the broader issue of safety for public figures working in security and media roles.

Stock had been working as a security contractor outside Zambesi House when he was fatally shot, sparking ongoing public debate about crime in Johannesburg’s central business district.

As the bail hearing unfolds, all eyes will be on the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, with many hoping for clarity on Majola’s legal standing and the progress of the investigation into DJ Warras’s murder.
