A Rare Blot on a Low-Crime Record

In the early hours of Friday morning, a man carrying 190 million yen in cash was assaulted with pepper spray by a group of three men in a parking garage at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. Police are investigating potential links between the two robberies, broadcaster TBS reported.
The twin incidents represent a significant challenge for Tokyo police and have captured national media attention, not just for the sums involved, but for the methoda direct, violent confrontation in public spaces that defies the city’s famed image of security. The investigation is now focused on uncovering the network behind the heists and the origin of the mysterious, mobile fortune.
