SASSA urges beneficiaries to complete reviews and life certification ahead of August payments
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has urged beneficiaries to complete grant reviews and life certification ahead of the August payment cycle to avoid payment delays or suspension.
Priority on reviews and life certification
Western Cape Regional Executive Manager Lungelwa Sigasana Makaula told The South African that completing the required processes on time will help prevent payment delays and ensure beneficiaries continue receiving their grants without disruption.
“Our priority is to ensure that all clients identified for reviews and life certification complete these processes within the stipulated time frame, thereby preventing any delays in the payment of their grants,” Makaula said.
Respond promptly and use online options
Beneficiaries who receive a review notice are urged to respond without delay. Makaula encouraged eligible beneficiaries to use SASSA’s online e‑Life Certification system, which allows users to complete the process remotely and was introduced to reduce queues at local offices and improve service delivery.
Keep details up to date
Makaula reminded beneficiaries to report any changes to their personal circumstances, including changes to income, contact details and marital status. She said keeping records up to date helps the agency process grants more efficiently and can prevent unnecessary payment delays during reviews.
Action for Gold Card holders
Makaula also called on beneficiaries still using the Gold Card to switch to a Postbank Black Card or a bank account of their choice. She noted a deadline of 31 August 2026, after which SASSA Gold Cards will no longer work. Beneficiaries who have not switched could struggle to access their grant payments.
Makaula urged beneficiaries not to ignore official messages requesting grant reviews or life certification and said that taking action early will help ensure grants are paid on time during the August payment cycle.
