A man found in a crashed vehicle on Effingham Road north of Durban was discovered with multiple stab wounds, and police have opened a murder case, authorities said.
What happened at the scene
Private security responders attended a single-vehicle collision on Effingham Road on Monday. The vehicle’s only occupant was found entrapped inside and showed no signs of life.
Stab wounds discovered during emergency response
Tyron Powell, spokesperson for private security company Marshall Security, said that while Netcare911 personnel were attending to the deceased, it was established that the driver had sustained multiple stab wounds.
“While Netcare911 personnel were attending to the deceased, it was established that the driver had sustained multiple stab wounds. It is suspected that the injuries occurred before the vehicle accident and may have contributed to the crash,” Powell said.
Vehicle crash details and witness appeal
Swift Private Security reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which collided with roadside barriers and ended up on its side.
