Pretoria streets to close for gender-based violence march
Several streets in Pretoria Central will be affected on Friday, 21 August, as a gender-based violence awareness march takes place.
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) issued a media alert on Thursday, 20 August, warning motorists about disruptions linked to the march organised by Kool 2B South African Foundation.
The march aims to raise awareness against gender-based violence (GBV), with participants gathering at Christian Progressive College from 9am.

According to the TMPD, marchers will leave the college and join Johannes Ramokhoase Street before turning onto Paul Kruger Street. The route will then continue via Madiba Street before returning along Johannes Ramokhoase Street to Christian Progressive College.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes, including Nana Sita Street, Pretorius Street, Francis Baard Street, Eskia Mphahlele Drive and Boom Street.
The TMPD and South African Police Service (SAPS) will deploy officers to monitor the march and affected roads.
Organisers expect participants to disperse at Christian Progressive College by 1pm. Motorists travelling through Pretoria Central on Friday morning are advised to plan ahead and allow additional time for their journeys.
