Madlanga Commission to play recording of Fadiel Adams’ meeting with IDAC

According to IOL, the Madlanga Commission is expected to play a recording of suspended MP Fadiel Adams’ meeting with officials from the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) when hearings resume on Friday.

Cross‑examination paused for recording

IOL reports that the commission adjourned Adams’ cross‑examination on Thursday to allow him to listen to a two‑hour recording of his January 2025 meeting with IDAC officials.

Who made the recording

IOL says the recording was made by IDAC Advocate Drushantha Ramsamy. Ramsamy later submitted the recording to the commission after Adams challenged her evidence about discrepancies in his reports.

Conflicting accounts over how Adams contacted IDAC

IOL reports that a central issue before the commission is how Adams came to contact IDAC. Adams told the commission that, after he became concerned his criminal cases were being intercepted, he requested help from the Ministry of Police in November 2024 and that “The Minister’s office referred me to IDAC.”

IOL says evidence leader Advocate Lee Seegels‑Ncube presented a different account. Adams told the commission he searched for IDAC online after a contact number given to him by the late General Andre Lincoln did not work.

“I didn’t know who IDAC was; I never heard of them… General Lincoln did give me the number. It didn’t work; it went straight dead, then I googled it,”

Possible criminal referral

IOL reports that Ramsamy has proposed that Adams be charged in connection with his alleged possession of classified documents.
