Gauteng Residents on High Alert as Flood Warning Issued

The Gauteng Provincial Joint Operation Committee (JOC) issued a flood alert for Gauteng residents, urging caution while driving due to fallen trees. According to IOL, multiple reports of flooding, particularly in Johannesburg, have prompted this warning. Residents should stay safe as more rain and flooding are anticipated in the province.

JOC advises reducing speeds, using headlights, and maintaining distance on flooded roads and bridges. Flood-prone areas surround Alexandra, Bedfordview, and Soweto. The South African Weather Service issued a level 2 yellow warning for thunderstorms and disruptive rain.

Tshwane and Johannesburg emergency services urge residents to remain vigilant amidst expected rainfall and be cautious against slippery roads. City of Joburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi reports no significant incidents but assures close monitoring and immediate relief efforts.
