Second Deadly Crash Near Bizana
Just a day before, another tragic incident claimed six lives and left several others injured when an Isuzu truck carrying about 30 passengers overturned at Mcetheni Location near Bizana.
- The group aboard had been traveling from Mswakazi, in the Port St Johns area, to attend a traditional ceremony.

A Week Marked by Tragedy on Eastern Cape Roads
The recent fatalities are part of a succession of deadly incidents, making the past week particularly alarming for both residents and authorities. In total, the death toll on Eastern Cape roads reached 21 after these four fatal crashes.
Safety Plea from Provincial Authorities
Eastern Cape Transport MEC Xolile Nqatha has urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads and stressed the importance of vehicle roadworthiness. Ensuring that vehicles are properly maintained and adhering to safe driving practices are essential steps in reducing accidents, particularly as the province grapples with such a devastating spike in road casualties.
Importance of Road Safety
Road safety remains a critical issue throughout South Africa, with investigations and enforcement measures playing a key role in understanding and preventing collisions. The recent events in the Eastern Cape underscore the importance of compliance with traffic regulations and the urgent need for community awareness around safe travel, especially when transporting large groups or navigating rural and high-risk routes.
While the investigations into these incidents continue, the Eastern Cape community faces a somber week of mourning and reflection on the heavy toll of road accidents.
