SANDF Dismisses Viral Videos as Propaganda Targeting Military Reputation

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has condemned a series of viral videos circulating online, labeling them as propaganda aimed at undermining the military’s reputation. The army insists that these videos spread misleading and inaccurate information designed to portray the SANDF as disorganised and ill-disciplined.
According to the SANDF, the intent behind the videos is to demoralise both military personnel and the South African public.

“It is clear that those who are sharing these videos are on a propaganda drive, targeting the South African population and our dedicated military professionals to sow doubt about their national defence force,” the statement read.
One of the widely shared videos features a woman claiming that SANDF soldiers earn alarmingly low salaries. The TikTok user, identified as “Lifereset with Boni,” suggests that serving in the military is more about patriotism than financial gain.
In response, the SANDF reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, integrity, and maintaining high operational and equipment standards. The military also denounced efforts to tarnish its reputation.
“We call on the South African public, particularly members of the SANDF, not to fall into the trap of such despicable propaganda circulating on social media platforms. We will not allow these malicious acts to dampen the morale and spirit of our soldiers,” the statement continued.
The SANDF emphasized its unity and unwavering dedication to serving the country with honour.
