Stolen Nissan NP200 Intercepted Near Zimbabwe Border

A stolen Nissan NP200 was intercepted in Limpopo by the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU) as it was being driven toward Zimbabwe. The vehicle, reported missing from Joburg in July 2024, was found with suspicious grind marks and confirmed stolen by Gauteng authorities. Thohoyandou police arrested two foreign nationals attempting to cross the border.

Key Details on the Interception and Arrest

VCIU officers conducted a routine check on the Nissan NP200, uncovering grind marks that raised suspicions. After confirming it was reported stolen, the two suspects were immediately detained.

Ongoing Investigation into Cross-Border Vehicle Theft

Authorities have increased vehicle inspections to prevent the smuggling of stolen vehicles across the border. The suspects are scheduled to appear at the Thohoyandou Magistrates’ Court on October 28, facing charges related to vehicle theft.
