Sensodyne users question switch from white paste to blue gel
Sensodyne’s switch from white toothpaste to blue gel has left some South African consumers questioning whether their favourite products still feel the same, with reports of changes in texture, taste and perceived effectiveness, Joburg Etc reports.
The change has prompted complaints from long-time users, including shoppers who say they noticed the difference only after opening a newly purchased tube. On Clicks’ product review page, customers have criticised the blue gel, with one reviewer writing: ‘The new blue paste is just so horrible.’
Others have raised concerns about the toothpaste’s consistency and whether it provides the same relief from sensitivity as before. Similar complaints have appeared in a South African Reddit discussion, where users discussed discovering the colour change in familiar toothpaste variants.

What has changed about Sensodyne?
News24 Business reports that Haleon, which owns Sensodyne, has replaced the white paste in some products with blue gel, removed titanium dioxide and introduced a blue colourant and additional flavour oils.
According to the report, Haleon maintains that the change is aesthetic and that the active ingredients remain unchanged. The company reportedly said consumers were informed through packaging, in-store communication and social media.
However, Sensodyne’s South African product information shows that ingredients vary between products. Its official Gentle Whitening ingredient list, for example, still lists titanium dioxide.
