Lieutenant‑General Arthur Adams named North West provincial SAPS commissioner
Lieutenant‑General Arthur Peter Adams was appointed North West provincial commissioner of SAPS, announced by Acting National Commissioner Puleng Dimpane in Mahikeng.
Lieutenant‑General Arthur Peter Adams has been appointed as the new North West Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), the police announced on Thursday.
Appointment announced in Mahikeng
The appointment was made public by Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane on Thursday morning in Mahikeng, the provincial capital.
Leadership change follows earlier retirement
The move follows the retirement of Lieutenant General Sello Kwena in December 2024. Since that retirement, Major General Dr Ryno Naidoo had served as acting provincial commissioner.
Part of wider provincial rollout
SAPS said the announcement is part of its rollout of new provincial commissioners across four provinces this week, a process described as aimed at strengthening leadership within the police service.
Further appointments expected
The police service is expected to announce new provincial commissioners for Limpopo and Mpumalanga on Friday.
This is a developing story.
