Higher load shedding stages back

Eskom, the state power utility, has recently announced that it will increase the severity of load shedding due to delays in the return of at least nine generating units. Therefore, as of this afternoon, Stage 6 load shedding will be implemented from 4 pm to 5 am on Wednesday. According to SAnews, this stage will be followed by Stage 4 until 4 pm on Wednesday. After this, Stage 6 will resume and decrease to Stage 3 on Thursday from 5 am.

According to Eskom, a delay has stopped the return of a unit to service at Arnot, Camden, Duvha, Kendal, Kriel, Lethabo, Matimba, Matla, and Tutuka power stations, resulting in current capacity constraints. The team is working diligently to return the generating units online as soon as possible.

Eskom expressed its appreciation to South Africans who have heeded the call to use electricity sparingly and efficiently, as it has helped to alleviate pressure on the power system and avoid higher stages of load shedding.
