The murderer of Kirsten Kluyts is facing charges. The arrest, made in the Parkmore suburb, was hailed by Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili, who commended the diligent work of Sandton’s detective team in cracking the case. The alleged murderer, a 21-year-old student at a Sandton tertiary institution, was apprehended at a student residence around 4 pm on Sunday, November 26, following a thorough investigation and cooperation from 24/7 Security management, as per IOL.
Kirsten Kluyts met a brutal end on October 29 while jogging at George Lea Park in Parkmore. This crime sent shockwaves through the community. Brigadier Muridili confirmed that the suspect would face charges of murder and rape and would soon appear in court. The arrest announcement follows a series of tributes pouring in for the beloved teacher, with Delta Park High School expressing their sorrow and remembering Kluyts as a much-loved teacher, colleague, and friend.
The arrest occurs amid South Africa’s annual observance of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, a campaign from November 25 to December 10. This internationally recognised period aligns with the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25.
