Father and son found bound and murdered in Virginia house robbery
Two men, aged 40 and 68, were found bound and killed in a Virginia home after a house robbery. Police are investigating and appeal for information.
Police in the Free State are investigating after a father and son were found bound and murdered in their Virginia home following a house robbery.
Discovery and scene
Virginia police responded to a complaint of a possible murder in Tulbagh Street, Virginia on Thursday, 30 July, Sergeant Palesa Thabana said. On arrival, officers were directed to an outside room where they found two motionless bodies.
Thabana said:
“On arrival at the scene, they were directed to the outside room where the two motionless bodies were discovered. The two victims were found with both their hands and feet tied. There was blood on the floor.”
The victims were males aged 40 and 68 and were declared deceased at the scene, Thabana said.
How they were killed
According to Thabana,
“One victim was further discovered with a plastic cover over his head, while the other victim was strangled with a wire around his neck.”
Who found them and missing property
Neighbours and private security officers located the father and son after they were reported missing, the account said. Police also allege that a silver Hyundai Getz with registration DNK 369 FS belonging to the victims was missing.
Investigation and appeal
Police are investigating two counts of murder and a house robbery. Thabana said the motive is unclear at this stage and that identities of the victims will not be released until next-of-kin have been formally notified.
