Police hunt for man connected to deadly Wells Estate shooting

Police are looking for Lukhanyo Mekula after a mass shooting in Wells Estate, Gqeberha, that left several people dead and injured.

What happened

The shooting occurred in Wells Estate in Gqeberha last month. Three people died at the scene, and six others were taken to hospital with serious gunshot wounds.

Who police want to speak to

The Eastern Cape Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Investigation Unit has identified Lukhanyo Mekula as a person of interest and is asking the public for help in locating him.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana urged anyone with information to come forward.

“Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Lukhanyo Mekula is urged to contact Sergeant Yali on 082-066-0329, or call Crime Stop on 08600-10111 or the MySAPSApp. All information will be treated as strictly confidential.”
