Kingmakers: South Africa’s 10 biggest sports betting sites, ranked by traffic
A traffic-based ranking of South Africa’s top 10 sports betting sites using Six SiGMA data from Jan 2024–Dec 2025, and industry revenue figures for context.
South Africa’s online sports-betting market is dominated by a handful of sites that drew the vast majority of player traffic between January 2024 and December 2025. A traffic dataset from Six SiGMA’s DMAIC Black Belt was used to measure visits across that two-year window and produce a top-10 ranking.
Market scale and the data behind the ranking
The National Gambling Board’s figures for the 2024/25 financial year show the country’s gambling industry generated R75 billion in gross revenue and R1.5 trillion in total turnover. Online sports betting accounted for 60% of all gambling revenue, contributing R52 billion to the total.
The ranking in this analysis was produced using traffic analytics measured from January 2024 to December 2025 by Six SiGMA’s DMAIC Black Belt-powered dataset.
Who made the top 10
The dataset shows the following operators as South Africa’s biggest sports-betting sites by traffic during the period covered:
- Betway the clear leader, rising from 21 million visits in January 2024 to 46 million by December 2025, and holding a 54.7% share of the measured market.
- Hollywoodbets second-largest, growing from 20 million to 24.5 million visits over the period and noted for higher engagement per visit.
- LottoStar a lottery-focused site with monthly traffic ranging roughly between 3.7 million and 6 million.
- YesPlay a fast-growing, mobile-first operator whose visits climbed from about 380 000 to 2.7 million; the site is licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board.
- World Sports Betting a legacy operator whose visits fell from 1.5 million to 1.3 million across the two years.
- EasyBet a mid-market fast climber, with traffic rising from 333 000 to 992 000 visits (a 198% increase).
- Sportingbet steady growth from 396 000 to 780 000 visits.
- SunBet backed by Sun International, with traffic growing from 291 000 to 709 000 visits.
- Supabets a brand with declining traffic, falling from 880 000 to 687 000 visits.
- The rest smaller or emerging operators include SuperSportBet and 10bet; 10bet is noted for pioneering crypto deposits locally.
Trends and takeaways
The period measured shows a mix of sharp growth, steady gains and declines: established leaders consolidated large market shares while newer, mobile-focused brands showed rapid growth from smaller bases. Legacy operators experienced mixed results, and several brands with strong physical retail footprints saw online traffic fall.
Player protection note
The National Gambling Board data cited alongside the traffic figures indicates 31% of gamblers classify as problem players. The dataset reminds readers to play responsibly and to seek help where needed.
