Elon Musk Clashes with South African Politician: Nationality Questioned

Elon Musk, CEO of X/Twitter, made headlines after an altercation with South African politician Julius Malema. Malema, the head of a South African political party, made controversial remarks at the 10th anniversary of The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) on July 29, 2023, which sparked widespread reactions on social media.

The dispute intensified when Benny Johnson, a conservative American political analyst and YouTuber, shared a video of Malema’s speech, raising concerns about violence against certain groups as reported by The Recent Times.

Elon Musk, who has South African ancestry and was born in Pretoria, South Africa, addressed the situation directly, questioning why the President has not addressed the alleged issue of white genocide in South Africa. It’s worth noting that Elon Musk later became a naturalised American citizen and has achieved fame as an entrepreneur, founding various successful companies. His father, Errol Musk, has emphasised instilling a strong sense of South African identity in his sons, promoting resilience and pride in their background.
