Earlier this year, the people’s race, Soweto Marathon, and the people’s bank, African Bank, announced that they will be partnering to bring running enthusiasts the popular, now to be known as African Bank Soweto Marathon – taking place on Sunday, 5 November 2023 at the Soccer City Stadium in Nasrec, Soweto.

Reduced Entry Fee & Audacious Rewards points
To make the race more accessible to a wider audience, the people’s bank has reduced the entry fee and customers will stand to gain a whopping 50% back in Audacious Rewards points when entering and paying with their MyWORLD African Bank card.
A Complimentary T-shirt
With the aim of promoting a sense of inclusivity and pride among runners, each participant will receive a complimentary race T-shirt.
Training Tips Wednesdays
African Bank in collaboration with Biokinetics Association of South Africa (BASA) will launch “Training Tips Wednesdays” which will live on the Soweto Marathon Website and social media platforms, including Twitter Spaces to ensure that participants have access to expert advice and the knowledge and motivation they need to run a successful race.
Biokinetics Expert Advice
African Bank has collaborated with biokinetics experts, who will provide participants with invaluable insights on how to prepare for the marathon, addressing both physical and mental aspects. Financial wellness tips will also be offered, emphasising the importance of total wellbeing.
Additional Water Stations
African Bank has responded to the call for additional water stations, which will be provided throughout the race route.
