Tragic Double Murder: Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Family Members

Shock and heartbreak gripped the Henley on Klip community after a 25-year-old man was accused of brutally murdering his own mother and younger brother. The suspect, Brazea Daniel Mogudi, appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrates’ Court on Thursday following the deadly incident that unfolded on 4 May 2025.

Mogudi stands accused of killing 54-year-old Dikeledi Mogudi and 16-year-old Ntathile Mogudi during a violent altercation at their family home. The case has sent ripples through the quiet suburb in southern Gauteng, as disturbing details continue to emerge.

The tragedy unfolded when a neighbour, alarmed by sounds of a violent altercation, rushed to the scene. According to Lumka Mahanjana, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, the neighbour found a chilling sight: Brazea allegedly straddling his brother while their mother screamed for help.

Witnesses recalled hearing the mother’s cries, “He is killing him!” as she tried to alert others. Unfortunately, their attempts were hindered by a locked gate, delaying any intervention. Emergency services arrived too late to save the victims.

After the incident, Brazea turned himself in at the Meyerton Police Station and was arrested without resistance. The court has set his next appearance for May 12, 2025, to allow him time to meet with his legal representative.
