d4vd’s rise to fame takes a grim turn in murder investigation
One of the internet’s breakout music stars is now making headlines for far darker reasons.
At 21, d4vd, born David Anthony Burke, had already built the kind of career most young artists only dream about. He rose fast through TikTok, streaming platforms, and a loyal online fanbase, with emotional tracks like Romantic Homicide and Here With Me turning him into a global name. Now, that story has taken a shocking turn after his arrest on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
From gaming videos to music fame
Before music, d4vd was making YouTube gaming content. He reportedly started creating his own songs after his mother suggested it as a way to avoid copyright problems on his Fortnite montage videos. That unexpected pivot changed everything.
Born in Queens, New York City, on 28 March 2005, he later grew up in Houston, Texas. He was homeschooled after seventh grade, played piano, sang in church, and had mostly listened to gospel music until his teens. Those early influences helped shape the moody, intimate sound that later found a huge audience online.
A career that moved quickly
After his 2022 breakout, d4vd signed with Darkroom and Interscope and kept building momentum with songs like Sleep Well, Feel It, and Remember Me. In 2025, he released his debut album Withered and began touring internationally, proving he was more than just a viral moment.
Why the case has drawn so much attention
According to current reporting, the case dates back to September 2025, when Hernandez’s body was found in the front trunk area of a Tesla belonging to Burke after the car had been parked for weeks and later towed. Police have since arrested him on suspicion of murder, and he is being held without bail while prosecutors review the case. Authorities had not yet publicly confirmed the cause of death at the time of the earlier official update.
The case has also sparked a heavy reaction online. Some social media users have revisited d4vd’s music and visuals, especially the February 2025 video for One More Dance, which reportedly includes imagery of a body being dragged and placed into a car boot. In light of the allegations, that imagery has come under intense scrutiny.
For many fans, the shock lies in how quickly the story changed. d4vd was known as a young artist who turned internet attention into real success. Now, he is at the centre of a criminal investigation that has completely changed the conversation around his name.
