Eleven hurt after taxi ploughs into creche wall in Waterloo, KZN
According to The Citizen, eleven people were injured when a minibus taxi veered off the road and crashed into the wall of a nursery school in Waterloo, KwaZulu‑Natal.
What happened
The incident occurred on Tuesday after the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received reports of a motor vehicle accident on Crocodile Road and was called out at around 17:19, The Citizen reported. On arrival, Reaction officers found that a taxi had left the roadway and struck the creche wall.
Vehicle and occupants
The vehicle involved was a white Toyota Hiace carrying 11 occupants at the time of the crash. According to information received on the scene, the driver attempted to make a left turn when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle.
Injuries and emergency response
Multiple passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious, The Citizen said. Paramedics treated injured occupants at the scene before transporting them to hospital for further medical attention.
Damage to the vehicle
The Citizen reported the minibus sustained extensive damage to the front section, right side and windscreen as a result of the impact.
