March and March unveils three-month plan of protests and operations on migration
According to IOL, the March and March Movement has adopted a comprehensive three-month action plan that combines mass protests with targeted engagements and operations aimed at irregular migration in South Africa.
Action plan adopted after NEC meeting
The movement finalised the roadmap following a special National Executive Committee meeting held on Friday, July 3. According to IOL, the NEC received and reflected on a report from the organising and mobilisation committee and adopted the July 2026 action plan with minor amendments.
Key elements of the three-month campaign
According to IOL, the plan includes a range of simultaneous measures focused on public demonstrations, political engagement and operational cooperation with state agencies:
- Mass peaceful demonstrations: A massive rollout of peaceful demonstrations, picketing and blitzes countrywide in key economic centres.
- National Dialogue: Engagement with various stakeholders and political parties to participate in a National Dialogue to be convened in Gauteng on irregular migration, its impact and possible solutions.
- Political meetings: Planned meetings with political parties, with July earmarked for ATM, UDM and the NFP, intended to encourage a unified position on irregular immigration and enforcement of immigration laws.
- Municipal by-laws: Engagements with municipalities and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) to pass municipal by-laws declaring that the township economy is reserved for South African citizens.
- Operations with state agencies: Engagement with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Department of Home Affairs to roll out operations in central business districts, private dwellings and properties allegedly hijacked by foreign nationals, particularly Nigerians, to enhance a deportation strategy.
- Public reporting campaign: A campaign asking the public to send WhatsApp messages to movement offices reporting companies that employ foreign nationals illegally; the movement said its research and investigation team will collate the information and report it to authorities to enable intelligence-driven operations.
- Community outreach: Meetings with communities nationwide to educate people about aiding and abetting illegal immigrants and to promote a revitalisation of the township economy project.
Protests and rhetoric
According to IOL, the movement told supporters that the government only understands mass rolling action and encouraged members to consistently take to the streets peacefully until their demands are met. The movement was quoted saying,
“It will either be our blood or victory.”
June 30 marches described as successful
According to IOL, March and March expressed appreciation for the June 30 marches, which the movement said involved over 120 events across South Africa and were successful and peaceful.
What the movement says next
According to IOL, the movement reaffirmed its intention to engage all political parties that are not hostile to its agenda against irregular migration as part of the three-month plan.
