Woman halts Home Affairs queue over alleged R150 bribe

A viral TikTok video posted on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, has drawn attention after a woman at an unnamed South African Home Affairs branch alleged that she was approached outside and asked to pay R150 for faster service.

In the clip, shared by NewsNexusOfficial, the woman stands on a chair and addresses people inside the branch. She tells the crowd that someone outside offered to help her get her card within 10 minutes for the cash payment.

She says her card was already first in the box and claims that two other people had already been helped before she was addressed.

The woman tells those in the branch that she is calling the police. The video does not clearly show which branch the incident took place at and the claims have not been independently verified. The allegations shown in the video echo concerns about alleged queue-jumping and corruption that have surfaced in public complaints over the years.
