Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez marry in seaside ceremony in Cascais

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez were married on Tuesday in a private ceremony at the Portuguese seaside resort of Cascais, the couple’s representatives told AFP, capping a decade-long relationship.

Private ceremony attended by their children

The wedding was described as “private and intimate” by the Brunswick Group, which handles Ronaldo’s public relations. All five of the couple’s children attended the ceremony, the representatives said.

How the couple announced it

Ronaldo shared a photograph on his Instagram account showing the couple’s hands with their wedding bands and the caption: “C (heart) G”.

Timing and background

The couple tied the knot exactly one year after Rodriguez announced their engagement on Instagram. Ronaldo is 41 and Rodriguez is 32, according to AFP.

Where they married

After days of intense media speculation about the location, which included reports naming Sintra or Funchal, the pair chose Cascais an elite seaside resort about 30 kilometres west of Lisbon where they own a villa.

Portuguese media coverage in the days before the wedding had focused on Funchal, drawing hundreds of people to its cathedral amid reports the ceremony might be held there. The cathedral told AFP it had no wedding ceremony scheduled and said hosting such an event would have been “an honour”.

Couple’s history and public profiles

Ronaldo and Rodriguez met in 2016 when Rodriguez was working in a Gucci store in Madrid. In a 2025 interview with Vogue Arabia, Rodriguez said she almost immediately felt “a sense of peace and an inexplicable energy” when she was with Ronaldo.

Ronaldo currently plays for Saudi club Al Nassr. He played for Portugal at the World Cup this summer, where the team exited in the last 16, and has won the Ballon d’Or five times.

Rodriguez has raised her profile through media projects including the Netflix series I am Georgina, which follows the family’s life. Together the couple have accumulated more than 750 million followers across social media and have business interests including fashion brands and a chain of hotels, AFP reported.

The wedding followed intense media attention in Portugal about the couple’s plans and drew public interest in multiple locations before the ceremony was confirmed in Cascais.
