Two fortunate South Africans started their week on a high note after winning the Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 jackpots over the weekend. The winners, who purchased their tickets via banking apps, collectively walked away with over R18.7 million from the February 1, 2025 draw.

Jackpot Breakdown

According to National Lottery operator Ithuba, one lucky player secured R7,669,551.20 in the Lotto Plus 1 jackpot. Meanwhile, another winner took home R11,066,488.80 in the Lotto Plus 2 jackpot.

Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza confirmed that the winners would soon receive calls from their banks, advising them on the next steps to claim their prizes.

“Both winning tickets were purchased via banking apps, meaning the winners can expect an exciting call from their banks this morning,” Mabuza stated.

Winners Encouraged to Claim Prizes

Mabuza urged the winners to visit their nearest Ithuba office to validate their tickets and collect their prizes. She also encouraged them to take advantage of Ithuba’s free financial and trauma counseling services, designed to help new millionaires manage their winnings responsibly.

“At Ithuba, we are committed to changing lives through the National Lottery. This weekend’s wins are a testament to the incredible opportunities the Lotto creates for South Africans,” she added.

Lotto Winnings Are Tax-Free

Ithuba reminded players that all lottery winnings in South Africa are tax-free, allowing winners to claim their full prize amounts without deductions.

Recent Big Wins Continue

This latest jackpot win follows another massive payout last week when a lucky PowerBall winner claimed R102 million. The man revealed that he had been praying to win just R15 million to start a business but ended up becoming an overnight multi-millionaire.

With millions in winnings up for grabs each week, South Africans continue to test their luck in the hopes of striking it rich.
