EMPD Nabs Unlicensed Man in Attempted Bribery Arrest

During a crime prevention operation in the Leboeng Section on November 10, EMPD’s Thembisa Precinct officers apprehended a 37-year-old motorist, leading to his arrest and vehicle confiscation. The red VW Golf, idling in Letsiakarane Street with a single occupant, obstructed the area, prompting officers to approach.

Upon requesting the driver’s license, officers noted a mismatch between the individual behind the wheel and the photo on the license. In a subsequent site interview, the motorist admitted that the person in the photo was his brother, and he did not possess a valid driver’s license. Additionally, he attempted to bribe the officers with money to overlook the situation.

The offender is now facing charges of fraud and bribery. He was arrested and taken to the Thembisa South Police Station, with a court appearance scheduled at the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court. The VW Golf was impounded and secured at the EMPD Thembisa Precinct.
